My Story 1250 Word Essay (2/4 Done)

Martin woke up with one of those dreadful morning feelings as he started to get up. The first thing that came to his mind was of course, food. He walked towards the living room with mixed feelings of tiredness but also enjoyment. He smelt his bread warming up in the toaster, that his wife prepared for him just before he woke up. He smelt that his toast was ready because of that fine smell of burnt bread, he went to the toaster and took a bit. What a great crunchy and crispy feeling that was happening inside his mouth, how he desired that as soon as he woke up.

Victor then was woken up by his parents. The curtains drawn wide open so the sunlight can do the job for them, no need for the constant wake up victor, it is time to get up. He remembered what was happening this day, so he forgot about the fact that he was tired and just said the casual greeting to his parents and headed straight towards the bathroom to get himself ready. As soon as he got dressed an all, he got a sense of joy in his eyes and proceeded to eat his morning cornflakes. His parents always hated the noise of the spoon hitting the bowl as he scoops for the flakes. Come on victor, why cant you just eat what we eat huh? just be a man! with the choice of words of what Martin said, he simply responded in a cheeky fashion, I’m a child, not a man. Stacey laughed and gave him a light nudge on the shoulder as in saying be careful when you talk to your dad like that.

Derek got all the suitcases ready and was ready to leave. Come on victor! we are all waiting for you here! just because you are younger than me doesn’t always mean that you should be let of that easily all the time, we have to go now! Dad nodded with agreement of what he just said, and soon after he opened the door so everyone can leave the house with all their luggage.

Platform 7, that’s the platform where we get the train from. it was a scary moment for victor, he rarely goes to train stations. He has the feeling that he might fall into the tracks when someone takes him there. He started to hide behind his mum and held her hand with a tight grip. Toughen up! you wont fall in the tracks unless you want to! The train was heard coming round the corner at a high speed, and seemed like it was going to crash into the barrier in the end of the tracks.

The doors shut closed and the train was moving in a steady pace. Victor realised that trains aren’t really as scary as he thought, and felt a sense of pride and courage by the thought that he overcame his fear and wasn’t scared anymore.

The journey on the train was a very long one. And they had to keep themselves occupied within it. Eye spy? No. That was a old school game that people used to play before all these new technology added into the world a few years ago. Stacey took a sigh and just handed everyone their ‘Gadgets’ just so they can shut their mouths whilst she relaxes on the train.

She looked out of the window and felt about how amazing life is. How everything is so beautiful in this world. Just as she was having her moment, she was awaken by the noise screaming. She turned around and just saw her two sons laughing at a youtube video. Turn the volume down or put some earphones in! I don’t want to hear that stupid noise all the time! at least give me some peace on the train.

The train was slowing down near the end of the tracks. There was a screeching noise as the breaks turned on. There was always a feeling of delight when we reached our destination, even if it took around 30 minutes to get to the hotel by taxi. As soon as the train stopped, we all had a smile on our faces and stepped out of the door. Taxi! I always liked to call for it and put my hand out, as it made me feel like i was in charge or something along those lines.

We were cruising along the road in the taxi, it wasn’t the standard london taxi as most people think of. It’s one of those off licence taxi’s that you just call from your phone and someone comes and pick you up. You can think of it as Uber, well that’s what I think of it… Anyways, it was a pretty nice feeling the moment we saw the hotel infront of our eyes. It’s nothing to what I expected. The blue and white stipes along the sides of the building looked amazing because of the reflection of the sun. I heard children in the distance, which made me even more excited about our holiday. As we drove into the complex itself, we were greeted by some friendly people with red shirts. They looked at our ID to make sure we aren’t one of those trespassers. After that was done, they wished us a good time.

Wow…. the amount of people that are staying here is magnificent. There is around 1200 people living in the whole complex itself. 3 hotels altogether. We took our suitcases and went to our room after we checked in at the reception. The lift was a funny experience for us. It seemed like a mini disco. Fancy lights, and even disco music in it. Pretty weird for a lift if you’ll ask me.

Our room looked amazing! We had our own cooker, fridge, everything you could ask for. The colours on the wall looked beautiful, the sofa has a nice softy smooth texture to it and the cushions were super soft as well. Why we need a cooker and fridge you may wonder? Because there is a supermarket inside the complex itself! so we don’t even have to leave to buy our food. Which is pretty cool to have inside a holiday resort. Most of the time you would have to leave and go to the shops to buy something. Although I wont be needing to go to the shops all the time, only to buy snacks and other minor stuff as we have breakfast and dinner for free!

The view outside looked amazing. You could see everything from up here you know. We saw children running around with balloons in their hands, whilst their parents chased after them. There was also a nice cool summers breeze floating around in the air whilst the sun was glazing down on everyone. The smell of freshly cooked hot dogs below gave me a feeling of joy and relaxation as I knew I’m going to be going down there soon enough to see what it’s like.

I chose story A because of the choice of language about how Diaz doesn’t use a lot of advanced detailing words, so he uses basic words with a lot of information. Also by the fact of tradition of other counties, which he mostly talks/writes about in his stories

Drama Work

Some words that may refer to a refugee are:

Terrorised, Traumatised, Terrified, Horrified.

I chose these words because it isn’t right for a child to be brought up into fleeing war.

Write a scene about a father and son talking together:

Son: Dad, can I ask you about something Dad:What is it son? What do you need answered?                                                    Son:

Merchant of venice court

In the court scene where Shylock is being hated for wanting to have a pound of Antonio’s flesh, Shylock isn’t doing anything evil in my opinion. This is because as Shylock said, the Christians have slaves and treat them really bad like animals. So why should should basically killing someone be as bad? Many slaves dies during the sequence of even getting to Venice and the public are saying Shylock is evil just because a Christian is loosing towards a Jewish man. This is why I agree with what Shylock doing is right.

Is The Merchant Of Venice A Anti-Semitism play?

Introduction

The merchant of Venice is indeed, Anti Semitic. I know this because of how the Christians in this play seem to target the Jew’s a lot, And also seem to be very disrespectful towards them as well. What I mean by Anti-Semitic? Well this word basically means Hostility/Discrimination against Jews. Which is a very bad racist action that some people still do in the society we live in now. Why do people do it? No idea, all I know is that it is wrong and is a bad thing to do, as the play in the Merchant Of Venice shows us just that.

First of all, Anti-Semitic means discrimination against Jewish people, which has clearly been notified in the play.

Jews Were Separated From The Christians

My first sum of evidence here is the fact how Jewish people and Christian people have to live separate, and even worse that the Jewish people have to live in a ghetto. A Ghetto is ‘a part of a city, especially a slum area, occupied by a minority group or groups. An isolated or segregated group or area in or restrict to an isolated or segregated area or group.’ This is definitely no doubt a clear piece of evidence of how the Christians were being Anti-Semitic as they were separated from the Christians and were put into a ghetto. This is why I believe that this is evidence for this play being Anti-Semitic.

 Shylock Is A Money Lender
My second piece of evidence states how Jews are only allowed to be money lenders. This clarifies how the Christians only allowed the Jewish people to be money lenders and have no other types of jobs at all. The reason why I think this is Anti-Semitic is because, why on earth would Jewish people be set a certain job and no others. Don’t they have freedom? Firstly living in a ghetto. And now only allowed to have one job. This is like before, another reason why this play Merchant Of Venice is Anti-Semitic towards Jews.
‘Three Thousand Ducats’
This quote is spoken by Shylock when he looses his daughter Jessica, when she runs away, changes religion and steals Shylock’s money.
The reason why this is Anti-Semitic is because the first thing he thinks of first is his Ducats. Which is a strange thing for someone to say after loosing a member of their own family. As Jews were known for being ‘Good with money’ then this phase makes fun of that by making it seem that since Shylock is a Jew, then he cares about money more than his daughter. I also know this because the word ‘Ducats’ or ‘Ducat’ in his speech was said 6 times. and the word Daughter/Jessica was said 5 times, so somehow Ducats seem more important to him. This is why the quote
Three Thousand Ducats is a good use of evidence to state that this play is Anti-Semitic.
‘A Pound Of Flesh’
This phrase is another piece of evidence that I found. I chose this phrase because it shows a Jewish Stereotype, which Shakespeare has used to make the audience laugh. The play shows Anti-Semitism because of how Shylock wanted a pound of flesh, maybe because of the stereotype of Jews preforming rituals on humans to get their blood. I know this because of this quote here, said by Jessica: ‘That he would rather have Antonio’s flesh than twenty times the value of the sum’ This quote shows this because of how Shylock wanted his blood, and didn’t care how much money people would give him not to do it. This is why I believe that this piece of evidence is a good point to show you that this play is Anti-Semitic.
‘Fair Sir You Spit On Me Wednesday Last’
This quote is a clear evidence of Anti-Semitism. This is because of how Antonio spits on Shylock, and expects nothing of it as he is a ‘Jew’ so he can do whatever he pleases. Antonio also states that he will spit on him again if he wants to. This quote was said during the time when Antonio asked for the 3000 ducats. Plus, as Antonio believes that Shylock’s only job is a ‘Money Lender’ then he would accept it. Antonio also calls Shylock a dog, and just expects Shylock to let it go as he is a ‘Jew’ and wouldn’t just say no to the offer. In return to this Shylock questions how a dog can lend people money ‘Hath a dog money? Is it possible a cur can lend three thousand ducats?’ This is why I believe that this quote is evidence for this play being Anti-Semitic.
‘Thou Naughty gaoler’
This quote is another piece of evidence to state how this play is Anti-Semitic. This line was said by Shylock when the gaoler let Antonio out of his cell to speak with Shylock. I chose this quote because since Antonio is a Christian he is let out of his cell to speak with Shylock. Yet if it was Shylock asking to let out of his jail to speak with Antonio for any type of matter, they will say no say no as he is a ‘Jew.’ This is why I believe that this quote is evidence for this play being Anti-Semitic.
Comedy play
This phrase is another valid point on how the Merchant Of Venice Anti-Semitic. I know this because of how Jews were treated in this play. Jews were treated like animals, the Christians didn’t seem to care about them at all. They spit on Jews, call them dogs and other horrible words. The reason why I believe that this play being a comedy explains how it is Anti-Semitic is clearly because Shakespeare wants us to think that treating Jews bad is funny, and is all just a laugh when clearly it is not and it is a terrible thing to do nowadays. This is why I think that this play being a Comedy explains how it is also Anti-Semitic.
So from all the evidence and explanations of my points given, this is why I believe that the Merchant Of Venice is Anti-Semitic.

Design a new and improved turbine for our power station.

The way I would make it new and improved, firstly I would get a better Straw. This is because if the straw is very tight and thick or very thin and small then the turbine itself with the sails would have trouble moving. So I would try and improve the Straw firstly in any way possible.

Secondly, I would perhaps increase the size of the sails so more wind could push fit onto the sail causing more force and having the sails spinning quicker

Thirdly, if I could I would add a Mini rotor to push the turbine round quicker so we don’t always have to count on wind and could make the process faster

Fourthly, acknowledging the fact of the sails, it would maybe be better to have it bigger, but also thinner and longer.

The Battle of the Somme

The battle of the Somme was not a pleasant one. A lot of death and sadness, a lot of bombs, shots and artillery being fired from different directions of the battle.  This battle started with the Germans invading France. There was 700,000 French deaths before the British came, and when we did come, 200,000 more French died along with over 400,000 British soldiers willing to sacrifice their life to save the French civilisation. The British were bombing no mans land and trying their hardest to wipe up the Germans. The attack started on 1st July 1916. Haig has even said that in June ( A month before the battle) There was no Training sessions or Commanders. So they must of worked hard to win this battle

What could haig do to help?

Haig decides to attack along the river somme to distract the Germans from verdun and help build the morale of the french

420,000 British people died (in this battle) including 60,000 in this day alone. The French lost 200,000 men and Germans lost nearly 500,000. The reason why the British had to help was because the French has lost 700,000 before the battle

After heavy French casualties at the City of vurden, The Allies needed

The britsh began a five day artillery on the front line of German front lines

The battle of verdun looked very grusume and horrid, people running around no mans land getting shot and hiding behind anything possible. Weather that be a dead body if necessary. There was a machine gun turret which someone took out with a grenade.

Many people died, and at the end the soldiers berried the bodies.

Planes were bombing the no mans land and most of them crashed into no mans land causing big explosions.

This battle was the time when the first tank was introduced.

WWI Diary entry

Day 1:

I’m so proud to be here, for my country and with my country! I will do my best to succeed in my work and follow orders at all times, making sure no-one stands in my path and to make sure that we win in victorious. My family are safe in their homes, I am doing this for them! I have to do this! I have to!

Day 2

I have killed an innocent man… he was on the floor pleading for help, or what I thought he was doing. He had no arm and was heavily bleeding, I knew it wasn’t someone that I know, so out of shock I shot him… just there on the spot. Shot him. What have I become, a murderer? for what? what do I earn out of this? why can’t there be peace in the world? Why can’t everyone just get along with each other?

Day 3

The trenches are giving me a hard time, having to stay awake most of the time, no showers, baths and no soap… The floor is wet and it’s a challenge just to walk around, this is not a nice place to live in, but for how long would I be here for? maybe days, or years. who knows? or hours… minutes… Even seconds. I can die right here right now or I can live until I’m 87 with a nice home and some popcorn watching tele with my friends. I shouldn’t of signed up to be here… should of stayed with my family

Day 4

I can’t cope! People dying next to me, people I know! People who I have ate with and travelled with. My friends, most of them dead. Why not me? why do I have to survive? I want my family! I don’t want to stay here by myself anymore! Please! Help! Get me out of this evil place…. At least my family are alright… right? oh no… the thought of it. they have to be alright. I did this for my family… to make them have a nice life not a terrible one… oh no what have I done…

Day 5

My family are reported dead… a bomb hit their house… why am I even writing this diary anymore? I should be shooting people and helping my friends… no, not anymore, I’m not a killer, I’m not going to stay here any longer. Rats everywhere, damp water on the walls, ants, insects, lice. This is torture, how can anyone volunteer to do this? No one knows how hard this is, the trench life… is not a life, its a death sentence!

E: This is because in the old and new testament is different in ways that can be right and wrong.
E: I know this because in the old testament it was really angry and aggressive, yet in the new one it was about Jesus being calm and nice towards people who hurt him
